Bao Bao: Miracle Panda

A female giant panda cub was born in August 2013 at the Smithsonian's National Zoo. The cub's parents had been trying to conceive for years, so scientists are relieved that they can still reproduce (critical because the species is endangered in the wild). Bao Bao is only the second cub to survive birth in captivity since pandas first arrived at the zoo in 1972.
